Useful information for visitors to Apricale

Local shopping

Local shops depend on our trade are helpful and friendly do use them.

They are well stocked with fresh bread, pesto, parma ham, sausages, olive pate, good wine, oil and cheese.

Isolabona has a good butcher, hairdresser, ice cream counter in the bar, books, cards and gifts and extensively stocked grocers. It also has a very helpful pharmacy a first point of call for health advice.

Nearest supermarkets are at the bottom of the valley where the autostrada passes overhead. Cross the river at the roundabout and follow this road round to the right to MAXISCONTO (good fish counter). There is also a LIDL on the roundabout.

A vegetable, fruit and fish market in Ventimiglia everyday. Fridays it fills the streets with shoes, clothes, bedding and souvenirs. A little local market in Dolceacqua on Thursdays.

Fish mongers can be found along the coast road in the direction of San Remo. Fish vans- you can find one in Dolceacqua on a Thursday.

Opening hours for shops and restaurants

Wednesday everything closes in Apricale for a half day except café 'Apricus‘ which is open on Wednesday /closed Mondays.
Shops open early until 12.30 or 1pm, re-open 4pm – 7.30 or 8pm in summer.
Isola and Dolceaqua have different rest days.

Apricale places to eat and drink

In the square A Ciassa.

Via Martiri just below the square with tables in the square La Capanna da Bacci.

Around the junction of Via Remembranze and Via Matiriin Piazza Vittorio Veneto: cafe Apricus, restaurant Da Delio, Monti e Mari and Hotel Munta e Cara.

Internet & WiFi

The piazza has 24 hour free wi-fi, sometimes a bit overloade in summer.
Apricus and La Favorita also have free, fast wi-fi.
Free access is also available at Munta e Cara, Albergo Diffuso in Apricale, opposite “da Delio” restaurant in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. Ask for the connection code.
Also free in Dolceacqua square, Bar in Piazza, locally known as Marta’s Bar. Ask for connection code.

Buses to and from Apricale

Consult the commune website or bus stop information for up to date summer and winter timetables.

Some buses now pass the MAXISCONTO/LIDL supermarkets.

For the nearest beach get off when you reach the main coast road and take the railway underpass near the garage. There are a couple of beach bars here for drinks and snacks.

Car parks

On the approach road below the village.

On the approach to village on left hand side of Strade Provinciale there is kerbside parking, also a small park on right directly below the village before the bend near the refuse collection point. Further along the strade into via Remembranze there is more parking on the right beside café Apricus,beyond the café where the road forks to Perinaldo there is more extensive parking where the bus turns around.

Above the village and for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Drive around the village and take the left fork to Biardo and then follow signs showing very sharp left into via Cavour which marks the cemetry, there is a very large car park near the cemetery and further down, behind the square. (this is the best possible access for wheelchairs).

Further up the road to Biardo, turn the next left to find the road high above the village (panoramic), where there is limited parking and access.
